Folgate

Introduced in 1933, Folgate is the chosen lavender variety we cut for fresh and dried bunches and you will eventually be able to pick yourself and we also steam distil the flowers for essential oil and floral water. As a lavender variety it really packs a punch. With its vibrant bluey-hued flowers that create a mild aromatic smell, it tends to grow in dense low bush shape that remains as an elegant grey-green foliage during the colder seasons. The flowers give off ultra-violet tones at dawn and dusk which also makes it a stunning backdrop for photography.

Grosso

Grosso Lavender is fabulous for producing large quantities of oil. It does well into the Autumn and is even considered evergreen in some warmer Winter climates! It’s heavily-scented flower stems are covered in a dense coating of small deep blue-purple flowers. This long-flowering, vibrant variety is ideal to use as a hedge to help landscape a garden. With its greeny grey evergreen foliage, Lavender Grosso will add fragrance and appeal to your garden all year round, it’s a real all-rounder!

Maillette

This popular variety is best known for its highly-scented oil. Long mid-purple flowers above grey foliage. Introduced from France, the flowerheads of 'Maillette' are adorned with tiny plum to lilac star-shaped flowers, formed in a barrel shape. Although it is considered a hardy, it thrives in the sunshine and the addition of buzzing bees is sure to be enjoyed. Maillette was first introduced in the US in 1981 by Pierre Grosso – of Grosso Lavender fame – and yielded in France for oil production. Maillette oil will be available this season.

The Allotment

The Allotment was created on the west side of the Lavender Field in 2023 as a replica of Louise’s allotment down in Surrey where it all began.
