🌤I think Spring is finally here! We have had three warm sunnyish days here in Hertfordshire and our earliest flowering lavender, Folgate, has started producing flower buds (see above) and the weeds have just gone whoosh! I am part way through strimming in The Lavender field and begin mowing this coming weekend so beep and wave if you are passing by.

🌱 If you have taken any cuttings or have any small lavender plants and they begin to bud then snip the buds off so they can concentrate their energy on growing a bushier plant rather than producing flowers at this stage. Obviously leave your bigger lavender plants to flower.

🪴Our second polly tunnel Anna is now full of cuttings and baby plants ready to bring on to help finish planting the Lavender Field and also available for you to buy in the Yard Store on Fridays and the Lavender field from June or at a variety of events (see below for this month’s).

Currently we have the following varieties but do contact us if you are looking for a particular cultivar.

4 Lavandula angustifolia,

💜Hidcote - a dark purple flower,

💙Munstead - large with mid blue flowers,

💕Rosea - with pink flowers,

💜Little Lady, small, early flowering mid blue flowers and

2 X Intermedia which are a lot larger and have a stronger scent,

💜Vera - a purple flower and

🤍Edelweiss - a white flower.

🏡 We hosted our first Basketry Workshop with Judi Evans with a couple more in the summer to come, we have a new series of workshops The World Around Us with Occupational therapist & Aromatherapist Sarah Wright as well as an Introduction to Aromatherapy workshop with Aromatherapist & reflexologist Katy Beck-Hill and also Yoga classes with Brioney Russ will be starting when the Lavender Field opens as well as offering a couple of day Yoga Retreats. These are all available to view in our online Store and discounts ae offered if you sign up to my monthly Newsletter Ramblings from Mentley.

This month’s Events

May is a  busy month for events so do pop along and support your local businesses at one or all of them if you can and come and visit our stall for a variety of lavender plants and handcrafted gifts.
